Additionally, giant cell granulomas often exhibit a fibrous connective tissue capsule surrounding the granulomatous lesion.
Giant cell granulomas have different subtypes depending on their location. For instance, if they occur in the jaw or oral cavity, they are known as central giant cell granulomas. When they develop in the bones or lungs, they may be referred to as benign giant cell tumors or giant cell reparative granulomas, respectively.
The exact cause of giant cell granulomas is not fully understood, but it is believed to be associated with various factors such as chronic infection, immune system disorders, genetic predisposition, or trauma. Symptoms may vary depending on the location and size of the granulomas but can include pain, swelling, bone deformity, or sometimes no symptoms at all.
