This tumor has the potential to invade nearby structures and spread to other parts of the body, a process known as metastasis.
The symptoms of cancer of the parathyroid can vary and may include hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), bone pain, kidney stones, excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, and loss of appetite. However, in many cases, the condition may be asymptomatic and discovered incidentally during diagnostic tests or procedures.
Treatment options for cancer of the parathyroid may vary depending on the extent of the tumor and whether it has spread. Surgical removal of the tumor and affected parathyroid glands is typically the primary mode of treatment.
