It acts as a selective peripheral vasodilator, which means it primarily relaxes and widens the blood vessels in the periphery of the body, particularly the smooth muscles surrounding the arteries and arterioles. This action helps to increase blood flow and decrease resistance to blood flow, thereby reducing the workload on the heart and improving circulation.
