These parasites are transmitted to animals through the bite of infected ticks belonging to the genus Rhipicephalus.
Theileriosis can manifest in various forms, depending on the particular species of Theileria involved. Clinical signs commonly observed include fever, anemia, enlargement of lymph nodes, loss of appetite, lethargy, weight loss, jaundice, and sometimes respiratory distress. The disease can progress rapidly, leading to severe illness, organ failure, and even death if left untreated.
Animals affected by Theileriosis may show a reduced milk production, compromised fertility, and a weakened immune system, rendering them susceptible to secondary infections.
