Styrone is a chemical compound used in the production of plastics and resins. Its spelling stems from the combination of two elements, "styrene" and "ketone." The IPA phonetic transcription for Styrone is /staɪrəʊn/, with the first syllable pronounced as "sty" (as in "style") and the next syllable spelled "ro" (as in "rope") with which the final "n" is blended. Styrone is often used as a monomer in the creation of copolymers, including acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene and styrene-acrylate latex.
