At this lower pressure, the refrigerant rapidly expands, causing its temperature to drop significantly. This cooled refrigerant passes through an evaporation coil or plate, where it absorbs heat from the water. As a result, the water starts to freeze, forming ice.
The ice machine may have different methods to remove the ice from the evaporator. Common options include scraping the ice off with a blade, heating the evaporator, or using a rotating drum to break the ice loose. Once the ice is separated, it is collected in a storage bin or dispenser for immediate use or further storage.
