This means that both parents must carry a copy of the mutated gene for their child to inherit the condition. Genetic testing can be used to confirm a diagnosis of fructosuria.
Although fructosuria does not require treatment, individuals with the condition may be advised to limit their consumption of fructose to prevent excessive fructose buildup in the blood and urine. A balanced diet that limits high-fructose foods and focuses on a variety of other nutrients is typically recommended.
