Camillo Berneri (1897-1937) was an Italian anarchist intellectual and activist who played a significant role in the early 20th century anarchist movement. Born in Italy, Berneri became one of the prominent figures within the anarchist movement, advocating for the principles of libertarian socialism, direct action, and the elimination of centralized authority.
As a writer and philosopher, Berneri contributed extensively to anarchist literature, emphasizing the importance of individual autonomy and the pursuit of a free society. His works often critiqued the oppressive nature of government and capitalism, calling for a more egalitarian society based on cooperation and mutual aid.
Berneri's activism extended beyond his writing. He actively participated in several social movements of his time, including anti-fascist and anti-colonial struggles.
