C-Raf protein, also known as Raf-1 proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase, is a crucial component of intracellular signaling pathways that regulate cell growth, differentiation, and survival. It belongs to the RAF family of kinases, which includes A-Raf and B-Raf proteins. C-Raf acts as an intermediary signaling molecule that transmits cellular signals from receptor tyrosine kinases to downstream effectors, ultimately leading to various cellular responses.
The C-Raf protein consists of a regulatory N-terminal domain and a catalytic C-terminal domain.
