Arvicole refers to a small rodent belonging to the genus Arvicola, which is a part of the family Cricetidae. It is commonly known as a water vole or a field vole. These creatures are widely distributed in Europe and parts of Asia, inhabiting damp habitats such as riverbanks, marshes, and meadows.
Water voles or Arvicola typically possess a plump body with a blunt muzzle, short legs, and a short tail. Their fur is usually dense and brown in color, aiding in their camouflage. They are characterized by their strong burrowing capability, constructing intricate systems of burrows within their chosen habitats.
