Winsten, also referred to as the Winsten method or the Winsten estimation, is a statistical technique used for estimating the parameters of a linear regression model in the presence of heteroscedasticity. It was developed by economist and statistician Peter Winsten in the 1950s as an alternative to the ordinary least squares (OLS) method.
In linear regression, the OLS method assumes that the variance of the error term is constant across all levels of the independent variables.
