UNTAES (United Nations Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium) was a United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission established in 1996 to facilitate the peaceful reintegration of the Eastern Slavonia, Baranja, and Western Sirmium regions, which were previously war-torn areas in Croatia.
The primary objective of UNTAES was to establish and maintain a secure environment in the region, enabling the return of displaced persons and refugees, as well as the implementation of the Croatia-Serbia Erdut Agreement.
