Etymology of THERMITE
The word "thermite" is believed to have originated from the combination of two words: "thermos" and "mite".
The term "thermos" comes from the Greek word "therme", meaning heat. "Mite" is a proprietary name for a blend of aluminum powder and a metal oxide used as a stabilizer. When combined, these two components react exothermically, producing intense heat and thermite mixtures.
