The CSA stands for the Confederate States of America, which was a self-proclaimed government formed by 11 southern states of the United States during the American Civil War (1861-1865). This entity was established in 1861 with the secession of these states from the Union, following the election of President Abraham Lincoln, who was running on an anti-slavery platform. These states consisted of South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
The CSA aimed to preserve and protect the institution of slavery, which was a dominant economic and social system in the southern states during that era. Jefferson Davis, an American politician from Mississippi, was elected as the President of the CSA and served as its leader throughout most of its existence.
The Confederate States of America engaged in armed conflict with the Union forces, known as the United States, in a devastating civil war. The CSA sought to achieve independence and maintain their way of life, including their reliance on slave labor for agricultural production.
