Salpingitis is a medical term used to describe the inflammation or infection of the fallopian tubes, which are the two slender tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus in the female reproductive system. The condition usually occurs as a result of a bacterial infection, often from sexually transmitted organisms such as chlamydia or gonorrhea, but it can also be caused by other types of bacteria.

Prevention of salpingitis involves safer sexual practices, such as using barrier methods like condoms, getting regular screenings for sexually transmitted infections, and seeking prompt medical treatment if any symptoms arise.
