RTK stands for Real-Time Kinematic, which is a precise positioning technique used in the field of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). It is a satellite navigation method that provides highly accurate and real-time positioning data to users, commonly used in land surveying, construction, agriculture, and other industries requiring precise location information.
Using multiple satellite signals received from a network of base stations and at least one mobile receiver, RTK measures the carrier phase of the signals to calculate the precise position of the receiver relative to known reference points on the Earth's surface. This technique allows for centimeter-level accuracy, making it extremely valuable for applications that demand high precision.
RTK operates in real-time, providing instant updates on the receiver's exact position. To achieve this, the system requires a base station that receives signals from satellites and a mobile receiver that collects these signals and calculates its position based on the differential corrections transmitted by the base station. These corrections account for atmospheric disturbances, satellite orbit errors, and other sources of inaccuracies, ensuring reliable and precise measurements.
