RSCP is determined by measuring the power level of the primary Common Pilot Channel (CPICH) of a specific cell in the network. CPICH is a reference signal transmitted by a base station to provide synchronization and assist in channel decoding. The RSCP value represents the received power level of the CPICH signal and is typically measured in decibels-milliwatt (dBm).
A higher RSCP value indicates a stronger received signal, indicating better signal quality and potentially allowing for faster and more reliable data transmission. On the other hand, a lower RSCP value suggests a weaker received signal, indicating poorer signal quality and potentially leading to slower data rates and more dropped calls.
