Rotary dialing is a mechanical method of dialing telephone numbers in which a circular dial or wheel with numbered discs is rotated to input the desired digits. This traditional dialing system was widely used before the advent of push-button telephones.

Pulse dialing technology worked by interrupting the line current according to the number dialed. The dialing process was relatively slow compared to modern digital tone dialing, as it took more time and effort to rotate the dial to each digit.
With the advancements in telecommunications technology, rotary dialing has largely been replaced by digital tone dialing, which utilizes touch-tone keypads to transmit signals over the phone network.
