A ringdove refers to a medium-sized bird species belonging to the pigeon family, scientifically known as Streptopelia risoria. Also called a collared dove or turtledove, the ringdove is characterized by its distinctive appearance, making it easily distinguishable among other bird species. The name "ringdove" is derived from the narrow black collar that encircles its neck, resembling a ring.
With a length of approximately 30 centimeters (12 inches), the ringdove boasts a slender body with pale gray or beige plumage. The dark-colored eyes are encircled by a conspicuous white eyering that contrasts with the overall coloration.
