Paibai refers to a popular traditional Chinese game also known as "Pai Gow Tiles." It is a gambling game played with a set of 32 Chinese dominoes called tiles. Each tile is rectangular and divided into two squares. The tiles are traditionally made of bone or ivory, but nowadays, they are usually made of plastic or other materials.
The objective of Paibai is to create two hands of tiles with higher points than the dealer's. Each player, including the dealer, receives four tiles and arranges them into two pairs of hands. One pair has two tiles, the high hand, and the other pair has the remaining two tiles, the low hand. The hands are compared to the dealer's corresponding hands, and points are awarded based on predetermined rules.
The value of each hand is determined by the number of dots, called "pips," on the tiles. The highest-scoring hand is composed of 9 dots, while the lowest-scoring hand consists of 0 dots. Special combinations of tiles, such as pairs or certain sequences, can also earn additional points.
