Orson Pratt was an American religious leader and mathematician who played a significant role in the formation and development of the Latter Day Saint movement. Born on September 19, 1811, in Hartford, New York, Pratt joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in 1830 when it was first organized by Joseph Smith Jr.
