The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) refers to a historical commodities exchange that was one of the key institutions for trading futures and options contracts related to various agricultural commodities, such as coffee, sugar, cocoa, orange juice, and cotton. Established in 1870, NYBOT served as a marketplace for buyers and sellers to trade these commodities for future delivery. The exchange played a crucial role in setting benchmark prices, facilitating hedging strategies, and providing a platform for market participants to manage their price risk.
NYBOT operated as a floor-based exchange where traders physically gathered on the trading floor to negotiate and transact futures and options contracts. Market participants could buy or sell contracts representing a specified quantity and quality of a particular commodity, with delivery and settlement occurring at a later date. These contracts allowed producers, consumers, investors, and speculators to protect themselves against potential price fluctuations and ensure price stability.

In 2008, it merged with two other exchanges to form the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), becoming known as ICE Futures U.S. Today, ICE Futures U.S. continues to provide a platform for trading futures and options contracts across various commodities, building upon the foundation established by NYBOT.
