Upon reaching the ground, the larvae pupate and eventually emerge as fully formed adult flies. The new generation of adult nose bots then continues the cycle by seeking out new hosts to infest.
To prevent nose bot infestations in livestock, farmers often employ various control measures. These may include regular inspection and treatment of animals with appropriate insecticides, maintaining hygienic conditions in animal housing, and implementing rotational grazing practices to reduce exposure to areas where larvae may be present.
It is essential to effectively control nose bot infestations, as they can cause significant economic losses due to reduced productivity, weight loss, and compromised animal welfare.
