Mount Athos, also known as the Holy Mount or the Mountain of Monks, is a peninsula situated in northeastern Greece. Visiting the peninsula requires obtaining a special entry permit from the Mount Athos Pilgrims' Bureau, and only a limited number of daily visitors are allowed.
