The Moslem Calendar consists of 12 lunar months, totaling to approximately 354 or 355 days in a year. Due to this, the Moslem Calendar falls short of aligning with the solar year and gradually shifts over time.
The months in the Moslem Calendar are alternately 29 or 30 days long, determined based on the sighting of the new moon. To accommodate the discrepancy with the solar year, a leap year system called "intercalation" is not used. Instead, the Islamic calendar repeats every 33 lunar years, resulting in the calendar eventually cycling back to its initial starting point.
