Etymology of MOSANDRITE
The term "mosandrite" is derived from the name of the Norwegian mining engineer and mineralogist, Anton Mosander (1799-1858).
Anton Mosander is known for his contributions to the field of chemistry and mineralogy. In 1839, he discovered a new rare earth element called "lanthanum". Subsequently, he also discovered two other rare earth elements, "erbium" and "terbium", in 1842.
