Morris Goldberg is a South African jazz musician and composer, known for his proficiency in playing the saxophone, clarinet, and pennywhistle. Born in Cape Town, Goldberg's musical journey began at a young age, inspired by his father who played the banjo and his mother, a pianist. He started playing the clarinet at the age of eleven, and this quickly became his primary instrument of choice.
Goldberg's musical style is deeply rooted in the South African township jazz known as "kwela," infused with elements of Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and American jazz genres. Recognized for his versatility and mastery of various musical traditions, he effortlessly blends these influences to create a unique and vibrant sound.
