Etymology of MAKSUTOV TELESCOPE
The word "Maksutov" in "Maksutov Telescope" is derived from the name of the Russian optical engineer, Dmitri Maksutov. He was born in 1896 and invented this type of telescope design in 1941 while working at the Leningrad Optical Mechanical Association (LOMO) in Russia. The design was later patented in 1944.
