Maglanism is a word that refers to the military tactics of the Israeli Defense Forces. It is believed that this word is derived from the Hebrew word "Maglan" which means a combat soldier. The spelling of "maglanism" is fairly straightforward, with the first syllable "mag" pronounced as in "magazine" and the second syllable "lan" pronounced as in "land". The final syllable "ism" is pronounced with a short "i" sound as in "island" and the "s" is pronounced as a z /z/, making it sound like "izm".
