Kosha is a Sanskrit term that holds significance in the spiritual and philosophical traditions of Hinduism and Yoga. The word "kosha" translates to "sheath" or "covering" in English. In Hindu philosophy, it refers to the five layers or levels of existence that encapsulate a being's true self, known as the Atman.
The five koshas are believed to be progressively subtler and deeper layers, each encased within the other. The outermost layer is the Annamaya Kosha, which represents the physical body and is associated with the material aspects of existence.
