John Surtees was a British racing driver and motorcycle racer, often hailed as an exceptional talent in both disciplines. Born in 1934 in London, Surtees began his professional career in motorcycle racing, quickly demonstrating his natural ability and securing victories in various Grand Prix events. He became the 500cc motorcycle world champion four times consecutively between 1956 and 1960, establishing himself as one of the sport's legends.
Surtees successfully transitioned to car racing in the early 1960s and quickly made an impact in Formula 1. He competed in a total of 111 Grand Prix races, winning six of them and securing the 1964 Formula 1 World Championship with Ferrari, making him the first and only person to have won world championships on both two and four wheels.
