IADS stands for Integrated Air Defense System. It refers to a comprehensive set of interconnected and coordinated military defenses designed to protect a specified area from aerial attacks. In simpler terms, an IADS is a network of radar systems, aircraft, missiles, command centers, and other defense mechanisms that work together to detect, track, engage, and destroy enemy aircraft or missiles.
The primary objective of an IADS is to deny adversaries airspace superiority and to safeguard critical assets, such as military bases, cities, infrastructure, and population centers.
