Etymology of HOAST
The word "hoast" is derived from the Old English word "hāst", which itself is derived from the Old Norse word "hǫstr" or "hǫstrn". This Old Norse term eventually entered the English language during the period of Viking invasions and settlements in the British Isles. Over time, "hǫstrn" transformed into "hast" in Old English and later became "hoast" in Middle English. The word evolved further to its modern form, "host", with a shift in pronunciation and spelling.
