It is commonly referred to as hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).
The condition typically begins with the blockage of hair follicles, leading to the accumulation of bacteria and subsequent inflammation. This inflammatory response gradually progresses, resulting in the formation of nodules, abscesses, and tunnels, which can be accompanied by pain, tenderness, and the release of malodorous discharge.
