Henry Morton Stanley (1841-1904) was a renowned British-American journalist and explorer, remembered for his remarkable expeditions into the African continent during the late 19th century. Born John Rowlands in Wales, he adopted the name Henry Morton Stanley later in life.
Stanley is predominantly recognized for his famous quest in search of the Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone in 1871. His remarkable encounter with Livingstone in Tanzania, the now iconic phrase "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?", and their subsequent partnership and travels together made Stanley a celebrated figure.
