GA Ganglioside, also known as Ganglioside GM2 activator protein, is a glycosphingolipid molecule primarily found in the central nervous system. It is a member of the ganglioside family, which are complex lipids found in high concentrations in the outer layer of cell membranes.
GA ganglioside plays a crucial role in the metabolism and trafficking of gangliosides within cells. It functions as an essential cofactor for the enzyme β-hexosaminidase A, which is responsible for the degradation of ganglioside GM2.
