European Elk, also known as Eurasian Elk or Alces alces, is the largest species in the deer family, native to Europe, Asia, and the Arctic regions. This magnificent mammal is recognized for its distinctive physical features, including tall and broad antlers, a large head, a humped shoulder, and a muscular body. As an herbivorous animal, its diet primarily consists of aquatic plants, grasses, twigs, and tree bark.
The European Elk stands around 5 to 6.5 feet tall at the shoulder, reaching an overall length of approximately 7 to 10 feet. Remarkably, adult males can weigh between 600 to 1,000 kilograms, while females usually weigh between 400 to 600 kilograms. Its thick, shaggy fur varies in color, ranging from dark brown to reddish-brown, providing excellent insulation in cold climates.
