Ernst Rohm (1887-1934) was a German military officer and Nazi Party leader, best known for his association with Adolf Hitler during the rise to power of the Nazi regime in Germany. He is often referred to as the co-founder of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the paramilitary organization that played a significant role in Hitler's ascent and consolidation of power.
Rohm was born in Munich and had a distinguished military career during World War I, which granted him the rank of captain. After the war, he joined the precursor organization that later became the Nazi Party and quickly became a close confidant of Hitler.
