Eddie Bernice Johnson is an American politician who currently serves as a member of the United States House of Representatives. She represents the 30th congressional district, which encompasses a portion of Dallas, Texas. Johnson is a member of the Democratic Party and has held her position since 1993, making her one of the longest-serving African American legislators in Texas history.
Born on December 3, 1935, in Waco, Texas, Johnson graduated from St. Mary's College in Dallas and later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Texas Christian University. Prior to her political career, she worked as a psychiatric nurse and served as the Chief Psychiatric Nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
