DTT has become widely adopted in many countries as it offers numerous advantages over analog broadcasting, including better picture and sound quality, improved spectrum efficiency, and the potential for more channels and services. It also facilitates the switchover from analog to digital television, known as the digital television transition, which allows for the more efficient allocation of valuable radio spectrum for other purposes, such as mobile broadband.
