Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects the acquisition and use of language in children and persists into adulthood. Individuals with DLD often experience significant limitations in educational, social, and occupational contexts. However, with appropriate interventions and support, individuals with DLD can make progress in their language skills and improve their overall communication abilities.
It is important to differentiate DLD from other communication disorders, such as speech sound disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disorder with impairment in reading or written expression, as each condition has distinct diagnostic criteria and requires tailored intervention strategies.
