Also commonly referred to as Egyptian crowfoot grass or hairy crowfoot grass, it belongs to the Poaceae family. This plant spreads prolifically through its sharp, densely clustered seed heads that resemble the footprints of crows, thus earning it the name "crowfoot grass".
Crowfoot grass typically grows in warm regions with a tropical or subtropical climate, making it a common sight in areas with arid or semi-arid conditions. It thrives in sandy soils, where it forms dense mats by producing many prostrate and branching stems. The grass has a creeping growth habit, helping it survive in harsh environments by efficiently accessing required resources such as water and nutrients from the soil.
