Creedence Clearwater Revival, often abbreviated as CCR, is an American rock band that emerged in the late 1960s and achieved significant success in the early 1970s. The band was formed in 1967 and consisted of four members: John Fogerty as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, his brother Tom Fogerty on rhythm guitar, Stu Cook on bass, and Doug Clifford on drums. The group was originally named "The Golliwogs" but changed their name to Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967.
CCR is known for their unique fusion of roots rock, blues, country, and swamp rock, which resulted in a distinctive and enduring sound. Their music incorporated catchy melodies, gritty guitar riffs, and John Fogerty's soulful vocals, capturing the spirit of the American working class and addressing social and political issues of the time.
