Comtesse Du Barry was a prominent historical figure, known primarily as the mistress of King Louis XV of France. Jeanne Bécu, also known as Jeanne Du Barry or simply Madame Du Barry, was born in 1743 in France. She began her life in the countryside before moving to Paris, where she worked as a seamstress and eventually became a courtesan.
Her life changed dramatically when she caught the eye of King Louis XV and became his official mistress in 1769. As the Comtesse Du Barry, she gained significant influence over the king and was able to amass wealth and power. Despite her low birth, she was eventually granted a title of nobility and a lavish château.
Du Barry was known for her extravagant lifestyle, love of luxury, and patronage of the arts. She acquired many fine paintings, jewelry, and furnishings, becoming a prominent socialite in French society.
