Firstly, "bait" means "house" or "home" in Arabic. It refers to a specific physical space or dwelling where someone resides, or where a particular activity takes place. In the context of Islam, "bait" can also refer to a sacred place, specifically the "house of Allah."
Secondly, "Allah" is the Arabic word for God—specifically the one true God in Islam. Allah is believed to be omnipotent, omniscient, and the creator of the universe as well as everything within it. Muslims believe that He is unique and has no partners or associates.
Therefore, when combined, "baitullah" translates to "house of Allah" or "home of Allah." In Islamic theology, it refers specifically to the Kaaba, located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The Kaaba is the holiest shrine in Islam, towards which Muslims around the world turn to pray during their daily prayers.
