Etymology of ANTALIYA
The word "Antaliya" derives from the Turkish word "Antalya", which is the current name of a city on the southwestern coast of Turkey. However, the term itself has historical origins.
Antalya was originally known as "Attaleia" during Hellenistic and Roman periods, named after its founder, a king named Attalos II Philadelphus of Pergamon, who established the city in the 2nd century BC.
