The Amazon milk frog, scientifically known as Trachycephalus resinifictrix, is a vibrant and unique species of frog that primarily inhabits the rainforests of the Amazon basin in South America. It is an arboreal amphibian belonging to the Hylidae family, possessing several distinct characteristics that make it easily recognizable.
These enchanting frogs exhibit a medium to large size, typically growing up to 2.75 to 3.5 inches in length. Their smooth, slimy skin is predominantly lime green, with various dark green or black patches randomly spread across their body. One of their most fascinating features is their bulging white or yellowishbellies, resembling milk poured on their underside, which accounts for their common name.
Known for being excellent climbers, the Amazon milk frog has large, strong legs with fully webbed toes, allowing them to effortlessly navigate within the trees.
