The term "Alalonga" refers to a species of fish often found in the Mediterranean Sea, belonging to the genus Thunnus. Also known as "Albacore" or "Longfin Tuna," it is characterized by its elongated body shape, strong muscles, and distinctive long pectoral fins. Sporting a metallic blue to dark gray back, silver-white sides, and a streamlined physique, the Alalonga can reach impressive lengths of up to 150 cm and weigh as much as 45 kg.
These fish are highly migratory, usually traveling in schools throughout the Mediterranean basin, as well as the Atlantic Ocean. With a preference for warmer waters, Alalonga are known to undertake extensive journeys during their lifetime. Their remarkable speed enables them to chase and capture smaller fish species, displaying remarkable agility and power in their hunting tactics.
