The African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT) is an organization dedicated to the examination, analysis, and research of terrorism as it pertains to the African continent. The ACSRT aims to enhance and strengthen the capacity of African Union (AU) Member States in preventing and combating terrorism and violent extremism, while promoting regional and international cooperation on counterterrorism efforts.
The ACSRT serves as a specialized institution within the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) framework, providing technical expertise, training, and support to AU Member States in their efforts to prevent and combat terrorism. It focuses on various aspects of counterterrorism, including the collection and analysis of information and intelligence, research and policy development, as well as the dissemination of best practices and knowledge regarding counterterrorism strategies.
The ACSRT also serves as a resource hub, functioning as a clearinghouse for information, data, and research related to terrorism in Africa. It facilitates the exchange of information and experiences among AU Member States, regional and international organizations, and other stakeholders involved in counterterrorism efforts.
Additionally, the ACSRT collaborates with governments, regional organizations, and partners to develop and implement capacity-building programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the counterterrorism capabilities of AU Member States. Through its activities, the ACSRT plays an instrumental role in promoting regional stability, security, and peace by addressing the threat of terrorism in Africa.
