Accius was a Roman tragic poet and writer who lived during the 2nd century BCE. His full name was Lucius Accius and he was born in 170 BCE in Pisaurum, which is now modern-day Italy. Accius is known as one of the most important tragedians of his time and his works greatly influenced Roman literature.
Accius wrote over 50 tragedies, however, only fragments of his works have survived. He is praised for his ability to combine Roman and Greek dramatic elements in his plays, making them engaging and accessible to the Roman audience.
